The region offers a truly diverse vacation experience whether you’re searching for romance, relaxation, family fun or something in between.

Dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, many of these haciendas have been transformed into beautiful five-star hotels, complete with elegant rooms, fine dining facilities, sparkling swimming pools and picturesque grounds for the ultimate romantic getaway.

Yucatan romance

For something truly special, many properties, such as Hacienda Santa Rosa and Hacienda Temozon, can arrange private dinners for two complete with candlelight and music.

Culture & History

Yucatan is ripe with opportunities to experience the rich history and culture of the region at archeological sites. Don’t miss Chichen-Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, Uxmal and Ek Balam.

Step back in time as you traverse the grounds of these sprawling sites and feel the history of the Mayans unfold with every step.

Museo Ciudad de Merida

In addition, the historical centre of Merida is filled with history and the chance to experience local culture. Sample authentic Yucatecan cuisine and take part in near-daily cultural events featuring traditional music, dance and foods.

Natural Wonders

From lush jungle and white sand beaches to mangroves and biosphere reserves brimming with birds and other local wildlife, Yucatan offers more than enough for anyone interested in spending time in nature.

Celestun Biosphere Reserve for example, is home to more than 300 bird species. That includes an abundant population of vibrant pink flamingos.

Yucatan cenote

Or, head underground. Unique to the region, there are thousands of cenotes in Yucatan. Filled with crystal-clear fresh water, these otherworldly sinkholes are stunning to see. Whether deeply subterranean, or above ground framed by vibrant jungle foliage.

Yucatan flamingos

Merida itself is also not to be missed, whether travelling as a couple or family. Majestic colonial architecture, leafy plazas that come to life in the evening with music and food vendors and cultural events the whole family will love are all on offer.
